John Force Racing Weekend Wrap-Up – Chicago 2017


JOLIET, Ill. (July 10) – Following is a weekend wrap-up and statistical recap for John Force Racing in the Fallen Patriots NHRA Route 66 Nationals at Route 66 Raceway, the 13th round of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season.

John Force – PEAK Motor Oil & Coolant Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car
Qualifying Results/Notes
- Qualified No. 11
o First time since June 2016 at Norwalk, Ohio; First time this season; and 16th time in his career
o First time at Route 66 Raceway (only fourth race in 25 at Chicago qualifying outside the top eight)
- Qualifying Round 1 (Right Lane): 3.943 seconds/321.58 mph; clean pass from start to finish (No. 2 of session and No. 2 overall; two bonus points)
- Qualifying Round 2 (Left Lane): 7.381 seconds/97.58 mph; up in smoke early (No. 15 of session and No. 9 overall; no bonus points in session and two bonus points overall)
- Qualifying Round 3 (Left Lane): 4.009 seconds/293.60 mph; straight down the track but let off just before the finish (No. 3 of session and No. 9 overall; one bonus point of session and three bonus points overall)
- Qualifying Round 4 (Right Lane): 4.112 seconds/241.41 mph; lost a cylinder and veered toward the centerline before shutting off (No. 7 of session and No. 11 overall; no bonus points of session and three bonus points overall)

Race Results
- Elimination Round 1 (Right Lane): 6.473 seconds/107.50 mph, lost to No. 16 Jim Campbell, 4.082 seconds/310.48 mph; lost a cylinder at about the 200-foot mark and coasted to the finish; vs. Campbell – 2-1 all-time; 2-1 this season; 0-1 at Chicago.

Elimination Round Records
- Now 1,276-555 (1,831 rounds) all-time in elimination rounds (.697)
- Now 13-15 (28 rounds) all-time in elimination rounds after qualifying No. 11 (.464)

Qualifying Results/Notes
- Qualified No. 3
o First time since February at Pomona, Calif., second time this season, and 11th time in her career
o First time at Route 66 Raceway and best career qualifying effort at the track (previous best was No. 5 in 2014 and 2015)
- Qualifying Round 1 (Left Lane): 4.162 seconds/290.51 mph; good run until engine began smoking late (No. 11 of session and No. 11 overall; no bonus points)
- Qualifying Round 2 (Right Lane): 3.880 seconds/331.36 mph; impressive run which stood as quickest for short period of time (No. 3 of session and No. 3 overall; one bonus point in session and one bonus point overall)
- Qualifying Round 3 (Right Lane): 3.921 seconds/330.55 mph; straight down the track in impressive fashion (No. 1 of session and No. 3 overall; three bonus points in session and four bonus points overall)
- Qualifying Round 4 (Left Lane): 9.650 seconds/61.18 mph; car immediately into smoke and wobbled before coasting to the finish (No. 14 in session and No. 3 overall; no bonus points in session and four bonus points overall)

Race Results
- Elimination Round 1 (Right Lane): 5.680 seconds/135.61 mph, lost to No. 14 J.R. Todd, 4.480 seconds/242.71 mph; both drivers struck the tires, with Force falling at about the 300-foot mark and unable to catch Todd at the end; vs. Todd – 2-1 all-time; 2-1 this season; 0-1 at Chicago

- Qualifying Round 1 (Left Lane): 3.917 seconds/325.14 mph; from Point A to Point B and the quickest of all competitors (No. 1 of session and No. 1 overall; three bonus points)
- Qualifying Round 2 (Right Lane): 3.851 seconds/334.73 mph; set both ends of the track record with a straight shot, down the middle (No. 1 of session and No. 1 overall; three bonus points in session and six bonus points overall)
- Qualifying Round 3 (Right Lane): 4.597 seconds/179.95 mph; loses traction at half-track and ended run (No. 8 of session and No. 1 overall; no bonus points in session and six bonus points overall)
- Qualifying Round 4 (Left Lane): 6.915 seconds/94.79 mph; strikes tires around the 400-foot mark (No. 11 of session and No. 1 overall; no bonus points in session and six bonus points overall)

Race Results
- Elimination Round 1 (Left Lane): 4.982 seconds/157.39 mph, lost to No. 6 Tommy Johnson Jr., 4.025 seconds/319.07 mph; strikes the tires at about the 300-foot mark after leading at the 60-foot mark; vs. Johnson – 33-14 all-time; 2-2 this season; 1-1 at Chicago

- Qualifying Round 2 (Right Lane): 3.711 seconds/323.04 mph; great pass and tops of the class (No. 1 of session and No. 1 overall; three bonus points in session and three bonus points overall)
- Qualifying Round 3 (Left Lane): 4.009 seconds/293.60 mph; straight down the track but let off just before the finish (No. 3 of session and No. 9 overall; one bonus point of session and three bonus points overall)

- Elimination Round 2 (Quarterfinals, Right Lane): 3.817 seconds/322.88 mph, lost to No. 8 T.J. Zizzo, 3.787 seconds/324.75 mph; solid pass but Zizzo never trailed and set quickest pass of all eight drivers during the round; vs. Zizzo – 1-1 all-time; 0-1 this season; 0-1 at Chicago
